What Baking Means to Me

Besides the obvious means to an end (an amazing baked treat), the act of baking is a form of my "self-expression". I create what I want to create, however little or magnificent that baked good may be.

When I worked, coming home and baking (no matter how late it was) was my form of "stress management" or my way to relax & unwind. In a world full of things we can not control - I find that the structure of baking helps center me. I am in control of the outcome (well, mostly!) Baking truly helps keep me centered and fulfilled. And, not to mention, it serves a dual purpose - it makes me happy and hopefully it makes everyone else happy too! Spreading that kind of joy is immensely powerful.

It's not just about baking cakes or cookies, it's about the joy and calm that comes with it. What baking is to me may be yoga, running, painting, reading, or music to someone else. How amazingly profound that a hobby can be a form of therapy.

This weekend was a super special time for me to bake for those I love! Some of my amazing island family, A 30th birthday, and a surprise engagement ... I count it true joy to have been a part of these amazing milestones in the lives of some of the most precious people I know.

I pray you find things in your life that center you and bring you true happiness dear friends!
